New Defibrillator added in Youghal

Youghal Community First Responders have announced the arrival of a new defibrillator in the town.

This now brings the public access defibrillators in Youghal to a total of 5. The latest addition of the life-saving device is located outside the Youghal Clinic at Millennium Court, Foxhole. The other four are located at the Post Office, Spar near the Strand, Farrell’s Bar Summerfield and the Quays Bar. Two more defibrillators are to be introduced to Youghal in the coming weeks.

Pat McCarthy from the voluntary community group said; ‘‘we are delighted to announce another arrival of a new defibrillator and box. A huge word of thanks goes to Eric Power of Coremasters and all the businesses of Millennium Court Business Park for all their contributions towards this. Another word of thanks goes to Eoin Whyte and Dr Rafique for permission to install the box on their premises.’’

Youghal Community First Responders had over 160 callouts last year. The 24-strong team respond to ‘999’ callouts relating to cardiac arrest, chest pain, stroke and choking.
The group have training days and other initiates planned, more info of which will be revealed soon.
