This Island Nation Monday 7th September at 6.30pm On this week's programme: Youghal lifeboat station is to get a new Atlantic 85 Class lifeboat. The station's Operations Manager, Fergus Hopkins, will describe the boat and what it means to the station on this evening's edition of THIS ISLAND NATION maritime programme at 6.30 p.m. Youghal Station has led the way in the development of inshore lifeboats in Ireland.
The annual Mass for sailors and fishermen lost at sea will take place on Saturday, February 21, in Youghal Parish Church at 10 a.m. In attendance will be: Irish Navy Ballycotton, Helvick and Youghal RNLI Irish Coast Guard Service Representatives of British Merchant Seamen This year, thanks to Billy Healy, there is an additional list of sailors from the Youghal area who were lost at sea during World War One.
