Liadh Ní Riada concedes defeat in Ireland South elections

Recount Confirmed in Ireland South

SINN Fein formally triggered a full recount in the European Parliament election in Ireland South with the destination of the five MEP seats now unlikely to be confirmed until June 21. Counting continues in the Ireland South Constituency. Sean Kelly (FG) was elected on the 9th count with Billy Kelleher (FF) currently in second place, Mick Wallace (I4C) third, Liadh Ni Riada (SF) fourth and Grace O'Sullivan (GP) in fifth place. Cork rejects directly elected mayor

Voters in Cork city have rejected proposals for a directly elected Lord Mayor. The results, which were declared this afternoon, show that 33,364 voted in favour, with 34,347, voted against the proposal - 983 in the difference. Waterford Mayoral Plebiscite Result

Local Elections – Final Analysis

There were three big stories this weekend. The Green Wave, the collapse of the Sinn Fein vote and the emergence locally of Cllr. Divorce Referendum Final Result

Ireland has voted in favour of The 38th Amendment to The Constitution. All Constituencies voted in favour of the amendment.  The Constitution will no longer require a person applying for a divorce to have lived apart from his or her spouse for at least four years.
