CRY is a collection point for Cork Penny Dinners Christmas Appeal and we are currently seeking donations of toys (must be new), food (non-perishable), toiletries and gifts etc. that can be handed out over the Christmas period. A documentary on the connection between Youghal and the Snooker Championships in Killarney is now available to view online. Youghal CYMS have had teams involved at the Munster Snooker Championships for 30 years now. The 4th July is Independence Day in the USA….and it’s also Community Radio Youghal’s birthday. The station first went on air back in the summer of 1979 as a pirate station. Friday 23rd June is CRAOL National Community Radio Day. This is the third year of the nationwide initiative. Community Radio Youghal, along with up to 40 other established and developing community radio stations across the country, will mark the day with the help of its staff, volunteers, friends and followers. This year, CRY104fm will be doing an OB on the main street in Youghal, featuring local guests, giveaways and more!
Community Radio Youghal hosted its first -ever road race last weekend and it has been hailed as a huge success. Almost 80 runners took the start line in Youghal on Saturday evening, for the inaugural running of the Tale the Whale 5km Fun Run. The event was organised by CRY in association with the Moby Dick Festival. All proceeds were in aid of CRY104fm. Conor Tierney of East Cork AC won the race.
The Tail The Whale 5km Fun Run takes place on Saturday 3rd June! Here is the race route... Start/ First Part of race MARKED in PURPLE , Second Part of race / Finish MARKED in ORANGE. The start line is located at the Mall Arts Centre, with the finish line under Youghal's iconic Clock Gate. The run starts at 7PM this Sat 3rd June. A 3km Walk takes place at 6pm. [gallery]
