Youghal Library staff are very excited at the prospect of a new premises in the not too distance future. The plans for the new Library are currently on public display for patron and members of the public to peruse. Marian O’Halloran, Youghal Librarian said, “To strengthen our application for funding, it is vital that the public engage with the consultation process by coming in to view the plan proposal and give their views via the comments and suggestions boxes on site.”
Libraries are the cornerstone of a vibrant community. As well as having books for every age on topics from archaeology to zoos, and everything in between, the Library is a place where knowledge and interests can be pursued for the price of a Library Membership Card.
Other facilities at Youghal and Libraries across the county include internet access facilities, allowing people to work on their C.V. and partake in research be it for school work or personal interest. Many local social groups meet at Youghal Library including Ciorcal Comhrá, an Irish language conversation group, Youghal Lace group and Children’s Book Club to name but a few.
Access to a well-stocked community aware Library has been cited as one of those unquantifiable resources that improve the quality of life for local residents. To quote Philosopher and Poet, Henri Frederic Amiel, “Everything you need for a better future and success has already been written. And guess what? All you have to do is go to the Library!”
