This Island Nation – Monday 3rd November

This week’s programme will hear a claim that the East Coast is every bit as good and attractive as the South and West coastalines and that people from all parts of the country should be more appreciative of it. The programme will also discuss the problems for seabirds running short of food because fishermen will be prevented from discarding fish at sea under EU rules and will report on the building of Ireland’s first Shannon class lifeboat, named in honour of ireland’s biggest river, hear about a new lifeboat base on Lough Derg, developments in Enniskillen and recall when Youghal’s lifeboat used a railway. There will also be a feature about steamships on the River Boyne.

Tune in to CRY104FM on Monday 3rd November at 6.30pm
