Irish Guide Dogs Seeking Puppy Walkers

Irish Guide Dogs are urgently looking for volunteer puppy-walkers in Cork city and the surrounding areas.

Puppy-walking involves fostering a puppy for 12-14 months in your own home, teaching the puppy to become a well-trained, well adjusted animal.

Full support will be given to volunteers by an Irish Guide Dogs’ supervisor who will keep in regular contact and monitor the puppy’s progress. All veterinary fees and feeding costs are covered by Irish Guide Dogs.

Retired people and families with children generally make good puppy walkers, but anyone can apply and having pets doesn’t necessarily exclude people.

The important thing is that the person is able to spend time caring for and teaching the puppy.

However, there must be an adult at home full-time and puppies can’t be placed in homes where there are children under the age of five.

For more information or to apply to become a puppy-walker lo-call 1850 506 300 or email info@guidedogs.ie.
