Cork SHC: Killeagh 1-13 Midleton 3-18 played in Youghal
East Cork Junior ‘A’ Hurling C’ship: Killeagh 1-12 St Ita’s 0-19 played in Youghal.
Our senior hurling teams had a busy but sadly, a disappointing weekend of championship games where they both lost out to local rivals in the Cork Senior Hurling Championship and in the East Cork Junior ‘A’ Hurling Championship. First up on Saturday, June 28th were our junior ‘A’ hurlers where they faced neighbours St. Ita’s in Youghal. On a fabulous day both teams served up a great game for the spectators and while it was a close encounter for much of the game, St. Ita’s, with Cork senior hurler, Seamie Harnedy in their ranks proved too strong in the end and finished the stronger of the teams and beat Killeagh on a score of 1-12 to 0-19. St. Ita’s advance to round three while Killeagh play in round two(losers) on Saturday July 5th.
Team: D Meade; D Murphy, T Crotty, B Keniry; P McGrath, J Fitzgerald, D Cahill; M Fitzgerald, J Riordan; D Landers, P Carroll, I Carroll; M Barry, G Collins, S Scully.
Subs used: S McCarthy, B Delaney.
Our senior team faced Midleton in round two(losers) of the Cork SHC on Sunday July 29th also in Youghal. While they gave a good account of themselves they found it hard to contain another Cork senior hurler, Conor Lehane. He gave an outstanding display in the forward line and was ably asissted by Luke O’Farrell in leading Midleton to a comprehensive victory on a scoreline of 1-13 to 3-18.Midleton, as a round 2 winner, advance to round 4 of the championship while Killeagh go into a new draw for round 3 of the championship.
Team: B Rochford, S Treacy, P O’Brien, A Keniry, P O’Neill, K Lane, C Fogarty, D Walsh, J Deane, J Budds, A Walsh, D Cahill, G Leahy, B Barry, S Long.
Subs used: P Carroll, E Keniry.
Our club also hosted an Intermediate Football Round 3 clash on Saturday June 28th between Cloyne and Youghal. On a beautiful evening, our pitch and facilities were in superb condition to cater for both teams and their followers. It was an exciting game where Youghal were the dominant force and in the end they defeated Cloyne on a score of 3-10 to 0-10. Many thanks to all our members who volunteered to help our club host such an important fixture.

U7 & U8
Killeagh-Ita’s had their Under 8 monster football blitz in a very hot and sunny Aghada last Saturday. We fielded two teams, mixing the under 7 players with the now well seasoned under 8’s. Both teams played three games and played really well. Our players showcased their skills and will certainly be ones to watch in the future. Well done boys. We will host the monster hurling blitz in Killeagh on Saturday.
