Sherlock confirms funding continuation for Community Radio Youghal
Review process ensures support
Minister for Research & Innovation, and Cork East TD, Seán Sherlock, has confirmed that that Community Radio Youghal (CRY) is to continue to receive funding following a review of the funding by the Department of Social Protection.
“This is wonderful news for the workers, volunteers and most importantly, the listeners of CRY in Youghal and the surrounding areas,” said Minster Sherlock.
“I was delighted to assist CRY in the process of this review. Following the review process I can confirm that funding for CRY will be secured. This follows an extensive consultation between Government Departments including Social Protection and CRAOL.”
“I have made a number of interventions on behalf of CRY, so as to insure that this vital community service will be maintained and sustained with viable funding on a multi annual basis,” stressed Minister Sherlock.
“I look forward to continuing my engagement with CRY, as a listener and contributor. In my view, this review was vital as it served to underscore the importance of the voluntary effort and the impact that the station makes throughout the community.”
