The body is believed to be that of a woman in her mid 20’s to early 30s, of medium build, wearing casual clothing and there was no ID on the remains.
The remains were recovered at 2:40pm in a joint operation involving the RNLI and Coast Guard.
The woman’s body was formally handed over to Gardaí before being transported by hearse to the City Morgue where a post-mortem will be carried out.
A Garda spokesperson has said nothing suggests foul play at this moment.
They said the body does not match those of any missing persons from the area and are working to identify the woman.
Gardaí are appealing to anyone with any information to contact Youghal garda station on 024-92200 or the Garda confidential line on 1800-666 111.
