The Arad and Ma’alot-Kfar Vradim Combined Choirs at St Mary’s Collegiate Church, Youghal on Friday 20th April 6 pm
Founded in 1954 to be a dynamic force in developing choral music in Ireland, the Cork International Choral Festival takes place from 18th to 22nd April 2018. Cork welcomes choirs from across the world for a programme of Gala concerts, Schools Concerts, National and International Competitions, and world-class performances, as thousands of participants bring the city to life for a celebration of choral music in all its many forms.
The Arad Choir was founded in 1974 by the late composer, Joseph Hadar. Arad, a town in the southern part of Israel, is the host of the “Hebrew Song Festival,” which takes place each summer. The Choir is an official activity of the city of Arad. As such, it participates in many formal community events as well as some national events such as the annual Holocaust Day Ceremony as well as events at the Israeli President’s Residence
The Ma’alot-Kfar Vradim Choir was founded in 1984. The Choir participates in local concerts given during holidays and other public celebrations. Within Israel it also frequently sings with other choirs as well as performing for communities with special needs, such as old-age homes.
The thread that ties these two Israeli choirs together is their musical director, Ronen Ben David.
