Cork ARC Cancer Support House are calling for the ladies (and gentlemen!) of East Cork & West Waterford to run or walk in the Evening Echo Womens’ Mini Marathon on Sunday 24th September 2017 in aid of Cork ARC’s support service for cancer patients and their families at 29 Friar Street in Youghal.
Funds raised by the people of East Cork & West Waterford will directly fund the costs of running the service at 29 Friar Street in Youghal, which is available free of charge to cancer patients, their family members, carers and friends. Open in Youghal since May of 2017, Cork ARC Cancer Support House offer a drop in service every Wednesday between 10am and 4pm. No appointments or referrals are necessary, and the door is open to all those affected by cancer. Telephone support is also available every Wednesday, on 024 91654.
The Mini Marathon takes place on Sunday 24th September at 1pm. It’s a four mile run or walk in Cork city, starting at Centre Park Road, passing Pairc Ui Caoimh and the Blackrock Marina, before returning via the Blackrock Road and Monahan Road to the finish line at Kennedy Park. It is a great day out for all and a lovely way to raise funds for causes close to peoples’ hearts. Due to popularity, numbers this year are capped at 8,000 participants, so race organisers are encouraging people to register early at www.minimarathon.eveningecho.ie. To run for Cork ARC, simply call to the centre at 29 Friar Street in Youghal on any Wednesday for a sponsor pack and t-shirt, or sign up online at Cork ARC’s website, www.corkcancersupport.ie.
