Youghal Mackerel Festival

This unique festival sees Mackerel cooked, grilled and “barbied” in the open air by local chefs. Food fair, samples, family fun activities and live entertainment free for all.

FRIDAY 14TH AUGUST BARRY’S LANE
6.30pm: Music by Legends
7pm: Official Opening of the Festival – Welcome the wonderful Grannies who are taking part in this year’s Glamorous Granny Competition
7.30pm: Dance to the Legends Show Band
PLUS: Amusements, Face Painting & Meet Tricky Trev

SATURDAY 15TH AUGUST
1pm: Sandcastle Competition on the Mall Beach (registration at 12.30pm)
2pm: Taste fresh mackerel, cooked by local chefs on Barry’s Lane
2pm: It’s time for SPLATWARS!
2.30pm: Join Tricky Trev for some magic and balloon making
3pm: Enjoy the songs of Richard Cooke and the Shandon Shawlies
3.30pm: FREE event in Crazy Glazing, North Main Street
4pm: Kids’ Fishing Competition – prize for the Heaviest Mackerel caught, plus Swim Week conclusion at the dock (this is dependent on tides)
4pm: Jigs & Reels with the West Waterford Set Dancers
6.30pm: Music by Springbox
7pm: Second round of the Glamorous Grannies Contest
7.30pm: Music by Springbox PLUS, FROM 1PM ‘TIL LATE: Amusements & Face Painting

SUNDAY 16TH AUGUST
10am: Street Market at Barry’s Lane – sample the wonderful food and produce that Youghal and the surrounding areas have to offer. During the market, entertainment will include face painting, music and children’s rides
10am: Crab Catching on the Ferry Slip – with a twist! Prizes for the Biggest and Smallest Crabs Caught!
2pm: Wobbly Circus, Circus Display and Workshop at Barry’s Lane – Join this spectacular FREE event and learn the secrets of the circus. Try your hand at some new skills while having fun
6.15pm: Now’s the time to claim your prize! Any prizes won during the festival will be presented on the stage at Barry’s Lane
6.30pm: Who will be crowned as Ireland’s Most Glamorous Granny? Find out as we welcome all the Grannies on stage and the winner is announced!
7pm: The 2015 Festival will close with a swing, dance and sing with the wonderful Arkadia –
