The series made with the support of the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) under the Sound and Vision Scheme follows on from last year series which featured 6 Primary schools from the locality
This year Community Radio Youghal visited the primary schools of Gael Scoil Chorain and South Abbey in Youghal, Knockanore NS , Park NS , Kilcredan NS , Ballycurrane NS, Grange NS, and St Fergals National School in Killeagh where the students of each school tell the story of their school in their own voices.
In each programme we hear from the students as they tell us about the history of their school, some of the projects that they carried out during the year, the sports that they play in school, the dramas they were involved in , they talk to their teachers and they play some of their favourite music .
Series producer Darragh Parker said that; “it was fantastic for the staff and volunteers of CRY to be working once again with some of the students of our local primary schools, and it enables us to provide once again programmes on our schedule that are made by and for the youngest members of our community” .
Darragh also thanked the schools involved for their participation and allowing the production staff the opportunity to work with the students while also helping them research and put their shows together adding “one of the unique features of these programmes is that they are presented by the students themselves so it really allows the kids the opportunity to get involved in the making of the actual radio programme. .
This is our school begins on Wednesday the 18th of March at 1.15pm on your local radio station CRY104fm and will be repeated later that evening at 6.14pm.
