TY Students Take To The Airwaves

Transition Year students were live on CRY104FM last Wednesday as part of the radio module they are taking in Pobalscoil na Trionoide. The module is taught by CRY’s Darragh Parker and has been a real success for the station and school alike.

The students have been learning about interviewing techniques, show structure and research skills. They will be broadcasting two shows this year and last Wednesday was the first of those.

The group split into five groups and each chose a name for their show. Good Morning Youghal, We Talk/You Listen, Shush, The Radioaters and Team Talk were the five shows and each had some very interesting guest’s. These included a local politician, a PE teacher, a champion boxer, a local musician and a CRY Legend!

The TY groups also held discussions on various topics which included Sport, Music and Christmas. The students seemed to enjoy the thrills and spills of radio and who knows, we may have unearthed a new Ray D’Arcy!!

They will be back on air in May for round 2. A huge well done to all involved.
