Due to the recent spate of stormy weather there has been a lot of reports of seals being stranded on the shore in the Youghal locality. Youghal Coastguard would like to thank the public for their efforts in reporting these to the coastguard.
The Coastguard would like to stress to the public that these seals should not be approached and under no circumstances should anyone try to return them to the water or try to feed them as seals have a very short temper and a ferocious bite.
If there are visible signs of injury the coastguard can be contacted and our specially trained crew can take the animal for medical treatment. The best course of action is to leave the animal to rest and recover. Youghal Coastguard can be contacted by dialling 999 or 112 and asking for the coastguard.
