CRY has been nominated by Cork County Council to represent Co. Cork in the Pride of Place National Awards Competition which will be held in Derry in November. CRY has been entered under the Community and Arts Category.

Pride of Place is an all-island competition directed towards recognising the improvements of local communities to create civic pride in their area. The competition encourages people to come together to enjoy all that is good about their area as well as change or improve certain aspects of their community.

The competition is about showing respect and inclusion for every sector in our communities, young, old, rich or poor and creating communities to which the people are proud to say they belong”.

The Pride of Place Competition recognises and celebrates the vital contributions that community partnerships make to society. The focus is on people coming together to shape, change and enjoy all that is good about their local area.

The competition, which receives over 90 entries each year, is hosted by Co-operation Ireland under its Local Authority Programme in conjunction with the all-island Local Authority Steering Forum comprising officials from authorities in both parts of the island of Ireland.
